Chelsea Piers BlueStreak was created to meet the training demands of individual athletes and athletic organizations in the New York City metropolitan area. This elite training facility, located in the heart of the Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex – an internationally recognized destination for competitive and recreational sports in New York City – provides the perfect environment to help dedicated athletes reach their potential.
Using state-of-the-art equipment and Athletic Republic training protocols, Chelsea Piers BlueStreak helps athletes reach their athletic potential through a series of exercises that enhance physical performance and sport-specific training protocols.
Training Programs Offered:
Chelsea Piers BlueStreak offers youth and adult training programs for hockey, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, volleyball, figure skating, baseball, tennis, football, running and much more.
Here’s the breakdown for a typical two-hour Acceleration and Skills program for hockey, basketball and soccer:
- 40 minutes running or skating (two out of every three training sessions), or plyometrics (one of every three sessions), all following Athletic Republic protocols
- 40 minutes core and functional strength training
- 40 minutes sports-specific skills training
Most other sports and general fitness training programs are scheduled for 80 minutes and include running, plyometrics, core and functional strength training.
Key Staff Members:
Shane Palahicky – Director of Programming Shane was a four-year letter winner for the Cornell University hockey team, where he was a part of the first team to reach the "Frozen Four" in over thirty years. While at Cornell he was on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was a Student Athlete Mentor. Before Chelsea Piers BlueStreak, Shane played professional hockey for the ECHL's Alaska Aces and CHL's Bossier/Shreveport Mudbugs. He has his Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science and is an NASM certified Performance Enhancement Specialist.
John Feugill – BlueStreak Training Coordinator After graduating with a B.S. from the University of Maryland where he was a three-year starting captain and four-year letterman for the Terrapins, John played professional football from 2000 to 2006 for teams in the United States (Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers), Spain (Barcelona Dragons-representing the Denver Broncos) and Canada (Toronto Argonauts, Winnipeg Blue Bombers). He was named to the All-World Team after playing in the 2001 World Bowl in NFL Europe and chosen as Toronto’s Rookie of the Year in 2003. In college he was chosen as the team’s Outstanding Lineman of the Year his junior year and was given the Iron Terp award three years in a row for reaching specific off-season goals in strength and training. He was one of three recipients of the Toll Payer Award, given to players who show commitment to excellence in their off-season training programs.
Sean Goodman – Hockey Coordinator Sean attended the University of Connecticut, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 2003 and played Division I hockey. Prior to attending college, Sean played on the Midget AAA and Prep ice hockey teams at Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep School in Faribault, Minnesota. After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Sean moved west to Los Angeles and began coaching. As the head coach of a Midget Tier program with the Los Angeles Junior Kings and Loyola Marymount University’s hockey team, Sean was responsible for recruiting young athletes and managing their athletic development. In addition to coaching, Sean worked full-time as an office manager and assistant talent manager at GEF Entertainment.
