Madison, Wisconsin joins Athletic Republic

Tours, three-point shootout and ESPN Radio live remote highlight grand opening

December 15, 2007, Madison, WI: As the people of Madison, Wisconsin and its surrrounding areas made plans to attend the Grand Opening of Athletic Republic Madison, formerly Acceleration Madison, they had one thought in mind: joining the revolution. On a snowy Saturday, athletes, parents and coaches joined Middleton Mayor Kurt Sonnetag for an open house that featured a three-point shooting contest, an ESPN Radio live remote broadcast and an attentive staff who were confident and ready to help Athletic Republic Acceleration Training program sell itself.

As folks toured the facility, they were able to see experienced athletes in action using the Generation II Super Treadmill, and have the benefits of an optimal training atomosphere and the effects of incline running explained. As the tour progressed, athletes demonstrated various plyometric drills, and onlookers could see flex and shine of a new plyo floor. This allowed staff to educate everyone on the importance and safety of 30% shock attenuation for alleviating stress on the body as well as providing the optimal surface for training the fast twitch muscle fibers needed for sucess in ALL sports. The tour then moved on to the gems of the strength training world: the Plyo Press and Pro Mulit-Hip machines in a weight room equipped with free weights, free motion machines, and more.

Upon seeing the Hockey Treadmill, the inevitable question would be asked: Can you really use real ice skates? Answer: YES, YOU CAN! At that point, Hocky Director Zach Hargis would ask: Can you make an ice rink go to a 32% incline? Answer: NO, YOU CAN'T. Then, the importance of skating on an incline was explained, along with the training environment, where the athlete can see themselves in the mirror, hear their trainer coach them on proper stride mechanics, and then feel the proper way to skate with speed and confidence.

At the end of the tour athletes entered the gym, where they were met by basketball skills specialist John Bartlett for the demonstration of Athletic Republic's proprietary cord technology and an explanation of the benefits of Athletic Republic's cord conditioning programs. Whether hitting, throwing, kicking, stick handling or even swimming, cord conditioning can help improve strength and quickness in hard to train muscles, increasing sports specific speed and quickness.

After experiencing what Athletic Republic training was all about, a number of individuals and teams took the plunge and signed up, including two local track and field teams. Everyone who signed up was entered into a raffle or competed in the the three-point shooting contest where prizes were awarded, including sporting goods gift certificates, apparel, nutritional supplements, Wisconsin Badger Men's Basketball tickets and more.

Athletic Republic Madison Director of Training Kyle Brodd and Director of Operations Chad Gunnelson were pleased to welcome these athletes to the Athletic Republic family-a family in Madison that includes many professional athletes, including NFL starting running back and nine year veteran Aaron Stecker who plays with the New Orleans Saints and lives and trains in the Madison area during the off season.

As Stecker says: "the Athletic Republic Training Program helped me regain my speed, quickness and endurance. Having people who know what they are doing and how to motivate you is how you get results. It's helped extend my football career."
