Athletic Republic, a leader in science-based sports performance training for more than 35 years, has officially opened its first Canadian location at 550 Trillium Drive, Suite 15, Kitchener, ON N2R 1K3.
The opening of Athletic Republic Waterloo Region marks an important milestone for the brand as it expands into Canada for the first time. The new facility brings Athletic Republic’s proven approach to athlete development to the Waterloo Region, offering individualized performance training for youth and teen athletes across a variety of sports, along with comprehensive fitness and personal training options for adults.

Reflecting the importance of hockey throughout the region, Athletic Republic Waterloo Region is also one of a select number of Athletic Republic facilities equipped with the brand’s specialized Hockey Treadmill. The technology allows athletes to train skating mechanics in a controlled environment while trainers work to improve stride length, efficiency and skating speed. Combined with Athletic Republic’s off-ice performance training, the program is designed to develop the speed, power, agility, and durability that translate to better performance on the ice.

Athletic Republic Waterloo Region follows the brand’s evidence-based approach to helping every athlete reach their potential. Results are achieved through its TEST-TEACH-TRAIN-TRACK methodology, utilizing proprietary equipment and regular performance assessments to individualize training and measure progress over time.
The facility offers programs for athletes beginning at age seven through the collegiate level, as well as training for active adults interested in improving strength, fitness, and overall well-being. The center will also feature a dedicated ACL Bridge program designed to support athletes recovering from surgery and preparing to return to play. Free trial sessions are available for all programs.
Athletic Republic Waterloo Region is owned and operated by longtime area residents Matt and Roxanna Williams, who saw an opportunity to combine their passion for science and sport while bringing a new approach to athletic development to the community. In addition to Athletic Republic’s science-based performance training, the Williams’ envision the center as a resource for the whole athlete, bringing together performance training with mental performance, dietetics and athletic therapy.
“I am most excited to bring science-based performance training to the Waterloo Region”, said co-owner Matt Williams. “The opportunity to support athletic development in young athletes is tremendously exciting, and leveraging the unique capabilities Athletic Republic provides allows us to offer something that has not been seen in the region”.
“Athletic Republic’s mission is to transform potential into performance. This guiding principle has allowed us to help more than 2 million athletes achieve their goals of making the team, earning a place in the starting line-up, standing on top of the podium, or earning a pro contract”, said Athletic Republic CEO Charlie Graves, who will be in attendance for the grand opening. “We have fantastic owners in Matt and Roxanna Willaims, who have assembled a terrific training team who are ready to make a positive impact on the Waterloo region’s athletic community.”
